About Marton Train Station

Built in 1853 by the Middlesbrough and Guisborough Railway, Marton served Cleveland's rural communities.

The station was nearly closed in the 1960s but survived due to local campaigning.

Modernized in 2012, it retains some original features.

Marton's survival represents the importance of maintaining urban fringe rail links.

The station remains vital for local travel, connecting communities to Middlesbrough while preserving elements of its Victorian railway past near the birthplace of Captain James Cook in this rapidly urbanizing part of northeast England.
