About Luton Train Station

Established in 1858 as "Luton Hoo" by the Midland Railway, this station was renamed in 1868 and became crucial to Lutons industrial growth, particularly for hat manufacturing.

Rebuilt in the 1990s with a modern glass facade, it survived wartime bombings and Beeching cuts.

Electrification in 1983 transformed it into a major commuter stop.

Currently a busy Thameslink station, it awaits improved airport connections.

Luton station embodies the towns evolution from industrial center to modern transport hub, balancing Victorian railway heritage with 21st century travel demands.
