About Bristol Train Station

Opened in 1840 as the western terminus of Brunels Great Western Railway, Temple Meads is Britains oldest major railway terminus.

The magnificent original trainshed (now a heritage station) and later Victorian expansion showcase evolving railway architecture.

Severely damaged in WWII, it was restored and expanded in the 2010s.

As Bristols principal station, it combines historic grandeur with modern functionality, serving as gateway to the West Country.

Temple Meads represents the pinnacle of British railway heritage where pioneering engineering, architectural splendor and continuous operational importance intersect across three centuries of rail transport development.
